One of Barnet's traditional prizewinning sites. The Association was founded in 1918. Tucked away behind the houses on the north side of the Great North Way, the site slopes gently down to the north, giving a wide uninterrupted view all the way up to the MRC National Institute for Medical Research on the Ridgeway, Mill Hill. The site is bounded by Hendon golf course on one side and by Copthall playing fields on the other.

Barfield Allotment Association is a small site off Barfield Avenue in North London. There have been allotments on this site since the 1930's, when they were laid out for the use of the tenants in Barfield Avenue housing estate. The area of the site is approximately two acres.

It is bordered on three sides by housing and flats and on one side by a nature reserve and slopes south and east with a London clay soil. On most plots this soil has been supplemented over the years with copious quantities of stable manure and homemade compost.

Lawrence Street Allotments occupy a beautiful open south-facing site on Lawrence Street in Mill Hill. The site includes a large vineyard cultivated by one of our members and several communal fruit growing areas including a large community orchard which itself incorporates a wildflower meadow. Our Meeting Hut has recently undergone extensive renovation We hold two community events a year: our Plant Sale in May and an Open Day in August. In addition there are a number of social events for members including an annual BBQ and wine evening. This year we will host a talk on viniculture combined with wine tasting. A local nursery school has its own plot on the site.

A small friendly self-run site, 15 plots in total, one of which is a communal plot where members are welcome to have barbecues or just sit and relax. There are no toilets on site but the Cavalier pub is close by. Most of the Simmons Way members have gardened here for many years. Plots seldom come up for rent but when they do they are let almost immediately.

Our site is in a lovely location, alongside the Dollis Brook green walk, but also convenient for public transport; the London bus service and Woodside Park on the Northern line of the London underground. We have a large organic field and an ethos of encouraging nature and wildlife across our site, for example by planting native hedging. We are a thriving, welcoming community of keen gardeners, and are active in self management, by working together to maintain and improve our site. We have a Community Plot which is used by people with learning disabilities, and volunteers. We are a large site with both full and half plots, and although we have a small waiting list, applicants are usually offered a suitable plot within a year.
